Baptism

We believe Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience, symbolizing the believer's death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in the newness of life in Christ Jesus.

Baptism is an outward expression of an inward change. It is a public declaration of how Jesus is changing your life from the inside out. Your being baptized shows others that you've decided to follow Jesus, and allows everyone to celebrate this decision with you. Baptism is your public profession of faith, your identification with Jesus, and with the Church.

To learn more about this exciting celebration of faith, we invite you to attend a Baptism Class.  We have one for children and their parents, and one for adults.  Both of these classes happen every time we have a baptism class.

Membership

When it comes to membership at Jacob’s Well, our philosophy is different than many churches. Sometimes the belief is to become a member at a church first, and then after becoming a member, get more involved. We believe it is important to be involved first. Once you know this is your church home and the place God is calling you to be, then you take the step of membership. In fact, our constitution states there are several steps ahead of becoming a member. For example, one of those steps is to be baptized by immersion. When you know Jacob’s Well is the place you want to be, then come to a membership class.

At the membership class you will learn about our statement of faith, covenant and constitution. You will also hear the expectations of members as well as be able to ask questions that you have about the church. You can decide after the class if you want to become a member. Only members are allowed to vote at the churches annual meetings.

If you have questions about membership, please contact our Connections Pastor Laura Garry at .
