The week’s memory work is Philippians 3:13-14. Shuffle the notecards you made on Monday and continue to practice putting the words in order.

Read John 12:12-16

Palm Sunday is when we celebrate Jesus’ triumphal entry in riding into Jerusalem mounted on a donkey as prophesized in Zechariah 9:9. The waving of palm branches, which symbolically conveys victory over one’s enemy, reveals the people’s false understanding. The people believed Jesus would bring national deliverance from the Romans—Israel’s political enemies. That is not why Jesus came.

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

As we get ready to celebrate Palm Sunday tomorrow, let’s celebrate the real victory we find in Christ.

Luke 4:16-21

And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. And as was his custom, he went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and he stood up to read. And the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written,

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

And he rolled up the scroll and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. And he began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.” (Jesus is reading Isaiah 61 in these verses.)

In what ways do you see God giving you and those you know liberty in Him?

Take time to celebrate how God is at work in you and in those around you. Maybe write a note to someone you see God working in. Perhaps give them a call or send them a text. We can be incredibly hard on ourselves and others. God desires that we celebrate how He is at work, growing us to know and become like Jesus. Create a place to celebrate how God is at work in you and those you know. What would that look like?

In depth, we experience freedom! Celebrate with God in prayer. Thank Him for His work. Thank Him for His love and grace.
