The week’s memory work is Hebrews 10:24-25.

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

See if you can recite the verse by memory with or without using the song you created on Monday.

Luke 23:32-43: Two others, who were criminals, were led away to be put to death with him. And when they came to the place that is called The Skull, there they crucified him, and the criminals, one on his right and one on his left. And Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.’ And they cast lots to divide his garments. And the people stood by, watching, but the rulers scoffed at him, saying, ‘He saved others; let him save himself, if he is the Christ of God, his Chosen One!’ The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him sour wine and saying, ‘If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!’ There was also an inscription over him, ‘This is the King of the Jews.’ One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him, saying, ‘Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!’ But the other rebuked him, saying, ‘Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.’ And he said, ‘Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.’ And he said to him, ‘Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.’

Today is Good Friday. Contemplate:

• Who in your life has helped you grow to know and believe how the crucifixion of Jesus gives you life?

• Who on the journey has listened to you when you have struggled with doubt in a time of thirst?

• Who has helped you in a time of search, praying for you and encouraging you in the journey?

• Who is the person who comes alongside you and helps you clarify things when you have questions?

• Who is the person who encourages you when you are feeling down or when you have stepped off the path?

• Who is a person of depth for you in your life?

Take today to write a note or several notes to those in your community who have helped you most on the journey.

1 John 4:7-12: Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.

Pray for the people who have best encouraged and loved you on the journey of knowing and becoming like Christ.
