Whether you’ve been at Jacob’s Well since the early days or you’re brand new, the 4-week “25” series is worth revisiting. Together we celebrated, remembered, and worshiped as we reflected on 25 years of God’s work among us. The series began with Week 1: “The Journey So Far,” continued with Week 2: “Challenge & Opportunity,” moved into Week 3: “A Gift to the Valley,” and concluded with Week 4: “For Future Generations.” Take some time to watch—or rewatch—the “25” series and reflect on how God has been moving in and through Jacob’s Well.

Jacob’s Well Church began not as a building, but as a calling. Inspired by Jesus’ encounter with the Samaritan woman at the well in John 4, the vision of Jacob’s Well was to create a place where anyone—regardless of background—could encounter Jesus and take next steps with other believers toward God. That calling took root in Pastor Paul’s heart while in seminary, and in 2000, he and his wife Whitney followed God’s leading to Eau Claire to begin a church marked by welcome, authenticity, and community.
A small group first gathered in the Berthiaumes’ living room. By March 2001, Jacob’s Well launched publicly at Delong Middle School with a core of 40 adults and more than 200 in attendance. Over the next five years, the church continued meeting in schools—forming deep relationships, establishing leadership, celebrating baptisms, and building a shared sense of ownership. Wherever people were on their journey, they were invited to come along and take steps together toward knowing and becoming like Jesus.
In 2005, God began shaping a vision for a permanent Jacob’s Well campus. Land was found and purchased, the people prayed over it, and development began. Through faithful giving and a partnership with Builders for Christ, more than 1,400 volunteers helped build the original campus (now the Theater and preschool building). While the location was new, the mission stayed the same—lives being changed by Jesus. Continued growth led to the building of the North Venue in 2012, the Worship Center in 2018, and a remodeled Theater, creating new spaces for prayer, worship, and community.
Through regular Worship Nights with Baptisms, 24 Hours of Prayer, and seasons of renewal and recommitment, Jacob’s Well has lived out faith in action. During COVID, the church adapted quickly—launching livestreams, gathering outdoors, and expanding digital ministry so families could stay connected and continue growing in faith. Care ministries, discipleship pathways, and share partnerships remained central, serving the Chippewa Valley with love and purpose.
In recent years, Jacob’s Well has continued Making Room for what God is doing next—through expanded facilities, Saturday services, new spiritual formation opportunities, and a strong partnership with Venture Academy. Now, celebrating 25 years, we give thanks not just for milestones, but for countless lives changed along the way. What began in a living room continues today with the same faith and purpose. Wherever we are on the journey, we will keep taking steps together to know and become like Jesus. The best is yet to come!
