Why this Election Matters

Voting is a gift from God—an opportunity to care for our neighbors and participate in the decisions that shape our communities. Take time to prayerfully consider the candidates and issues before you vote.

In the Wisconsin Midterm Election, voters will choose our governor, attorney general, all 99 Assembly members, 17 state senators, and all eight U.S. representatives. These offices shape decisions involving human life, education, religious liberty, public safety, and care for vulnerable people.

Voters will also elect Wisconsin’s lieutenant governor, secretary of state, and state treasurer. Explore the candidates through PBS Wisconsin’s election guide and use your sample ballot to see the races in your districts.

Three Important Questions

These three questions will be on the ballot state-wide. Each question proposes a change to Wisconsin’s Constitution. “Yes” approves the change; “No” keeps the current constitutional language.

Question 1: Taxes and the governor’s veto

Should the governor be prohibited from using a partial veto to create or increase taxes or fees?

Question 3: Equal treatment by government

Should government be prohibited from discriminating against or giving preferential treatment to people based on race, sex, ethnicity, or national origin in public employment, education, and contracting?

These are short summaries, not the official ballot wording. Read the full questions and arguments for and against each proposal.
